COVID19 – Greenway Gym Update
Hello from the Fitness Team
Although we’ve had to temporarily close during the current crisis, we have moved many of our classes online.
We welcome everyone to tune in each day, via Zoom, for our friendly classes with Paula and Scott.
Classes open 15 minutes early for a chat with the instructor and each other, and to give you time to set up.
Please make sure you have a safe space at home, a drink on hand and suitable clothes and footwear.
If you have any health concerns before starting a class, please seek advice from a GP.

CLASSES CURRENTLY ON OFFER
STRONG by Zumba® is now STRONG Nation™
STRONG Nation™ combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training moves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every single move. In each class you’ll burn calories while toning arms, legs, abs and glutes. Plyometric or explosive moves like high knees, burpees, and jumping jacks are interchanged with isometric moves like lunges, squats, and kickboxing. STRONG Nation™ instructors use new music and moves every few weeks to make sure you’re always challenged.
Based on the training concepts boxers use to keep fit. During lockdown we are unable to use boxing gloves or pads, so this class has been adapted using shadow-boxing techniques into choreographed sequences of punching/kicking combinations and circuits. Boxing provides a useful balance between cardio and resistance training, combining strength moves such as burpees, planks and press ups with calorie-burning cardio. Boxfit will in turn help to improve your body composition and mood.
Over 50’s Pilates, introduces the basic principles of Pilates mat work, alignment, physical control, posture, core strength, balance, flexibility and body awareness whilst learning the repertoire through different combinations. This class is suitable for those who have no experience of Pilates and those who have already been accepted on the Greenway Gym GP referral scheme.
Based on Joseph Pilates classical mat series this is a faster paced, challenging work out which builds on his 7 principles of exercise, it requires greater stamina, strength, physical control and flexibility alongside a deeper understanding and previous practice of the repertoire. Not suitable for clients with spinal injury as an online class.
Forever Active Circuits
Build on aerobic strength, stability, stamina and balance through a warm up, body or small weights circuit followed by core strength exercises and stretching in a time efficient and effective workout for over 50’s.

Exercise on Referral
Greenway Gym participates in the Exercise on Referral scheme in partnership with Bristol City Council. Please speak to your GP or practice nurse about the scheme and being referred to us, or call our Deputy Fitness Team Leader Scott Appleby on 0117 909 0027 to discuss how the scheme might benefit you.
