West of England Works

We help disadvantaged people overcome barriers to work and training with long-term practical and emotional support.

Based in North Bristol, West of England Works is a completely free and voluntary service supporting you to access learning and employment opportunities.

Working closely with an Employment Mentor, you’ll co-create a personalised plan of action. This way, the support you receive will relevant to your needs and at a pace you’re comfortable with.

Find Your Strengths

Find Your Strengths is a 6 week course designed and led by one of our mentors. An interactive, group setting provides a supportive space to explore goal setting, build your confidence and resilience, understand change and discover your motivation. We run this course regularly and is a great addition to our one-to-one mentor support.

Who we can help

To be eligible for support, you must be long-term unemployed (receiving ESA or receiving JSA/Universal Credit for at least 12 months or receiving no benefits at all), live in Bristol and have the right to live and work in the UK.

Please email westofenglandworks@southmead.org for more information or phone the Greenway Centre reception on 0117 950 3335 and ask for the West of England Works Team.

About the Project

The West Of England Works project is an exciting partnership which aims to help unemployed people in the West of England find employment.

Led by Weston College, the partnership includes a range of voluntary and community organisations based in Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, and Bath and North East Somerset. It will support at least 1537 young people and adults into gaining employment through a community-based support programme.

The project is part of the Building Better Opportunities programme, and has received £6 million of funding from the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund.
